About
Hi! I’m Helena, a multimedia journalist based in New York City specializing in breaking news political reporting and production. My experience is wide-ranging, as I’ve worked in various facets of the media industry including editorial content at Vox and broadcast news production at CNN, NBC & ABC.
I graduated cum laude from New York University with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Politics in May 2020 and have completed internships at many major media organizations in New York City. Most recently, I’ve been working as an Associate Producer in prime-time at CNN by way of CNBC, where I was a Production Associate on two top-rated programs: Squawk on the Street and TechCheck.
I believe the media industry rewards obsessiveness. Fully immersing yourself in the story you're producing, your subject's experiences, and empathizing with the story itself are beneficial in bettering the journalistic craft. That's what I bring to the table. I'm incredibly tenacious and will become "obsessed" with whatever you throw my way. Adaptability is also essential in this ever-changing media landscape, which is why I have a passion for innovating within this industry. The new lifeblood of media consumers are innovators, finding increasingly untraditional ways of consuming media, and we have to innovate with them.
Because media is such a multifaceted industry, I've tried to not limit myself in the opportunities I've gone after, which is why I have parlayed my wide breadth of interests into a diverse professional background. I've worked in local government, digital and broadcast media and corporate sponsorship, always with the goal of getting an all-angles view of the industry.
